Netflix Queue Review: Children of Men

This movie seemed pretty promising and the reviews apealed to my post-apocalyptic-Holy-Shit-things-are-messed-up-with-humanitymovie preference. Everyone in the world has gone infertile for almost 3 decades. Of course, there are religious sects, fringe political groups and secret government agencies. Good premise, but it seems to rely on just that and never goes anywhere.

New from AT&T

It's Stalker Map

Yes, you too can place a tracking device on your loved ones, people you have wronged and future restraining order filers. I just hope that it is easy to request it to turn off when relationships go sour, but there is no reason you couldn't drop an old cell phone into someone's car to find out where they are going....

I know, cynical. What teenager would not want Big Mother looking out for them with a technological raised eyebrow? Then again, my kid is still young,,,I may change my mind about electronic leashing.

One drawer

I get one drawer. Brushing my teeth this morning (go new electric toothbrush), I realized that my bathroom existence has taken up one small studio-apartment sized drawer underneath the vanity in the master bedroom that I share with my wife. It has been a slow march, one of glacial movements where you don't even know what is happening until you wake to a Talking Heads soundtrack wondering where everything went.

Still crazy busy this week with work. Burning out a little, but will feel good by this time next week I am hoping. We were going to go see G. Love at Ravinia tonight, but it looks rainy, we could not wrangle a sitter and oh yeah, we are broke saving for an adoption. (No news on that either-hoping for something around Labor Day)

New Toothbrush (a new low in TMI) or I wrote this in 4 minutes

Yes, my life is boring for both of you reading this. Lately it has been work, work, work. It is sad and so unfulfilling, but my topic for today is my new toothbrush.  As you may recall, I have some yuck mouth, not that bad, just a couple of 6s on the dentist freak-out scale that mean my gums are expanding out of control. They wanted me to buy a >$100 toothbrush to try and fix things because the newest technology is always better than older alternatives.

I did agree that the electric kind would be better because manual brushing is so laborious and tiring. Cracked it out of the case and stuck it on the charger. Unfortunately, only had Dora toothpaste. I don't think Tutti Fuit Party is going to give me the full experience. (Man, my life is boring lately.)

Feeling Lazy…

...so you get another video and I get to keep my daily streak going. I usually put these up on Friday morning to display on a later date. If anything interesting happens, I will let you know.

Watch until the end.

Motivation

On the heels of the jiggly posting, I was sitting out on the back patio with my lovely appreciating Summer. I sat down in one of our chairs and immediately went through it. There is nothing like the distinctive sound of wicker ripping to provide motivation to exercise.

Work and housework this weekend, we are going to try and enjoy and you should do the same.

Jiggly

I have not been taking care of myself lately- not sleeping, staying up, eating crap and not working out. I don't weigh myself, I go by the jiggle factor. It happens randomly, usually at work or sometimes at home. I will walk down the stairs and unscientifically take stock in how much of me is still wobbling as I descend.

Lately, I have been shaking like a paint stirrer at Home Depot. (Lame metaphor...it is early) and have decided to start something to try and get back to the svelte-like waif that I know and love. Planning on signing up for this. I have not run a race since I did a half marathon eons ago so this should be interesting. We spectated (?) this 5K last year as it ran by the house. Maya dressed up like a cheerleader.

So, training starts next week. Need to turn the jiggle into a murmur.
