Long snowy night
Tonight was supposed to be a night out. It was, we had the babysitter in queue and everything ready to go but we were up against 14" of snow.
C and I had a nice dinner at a local restaurant called Firkin. The big event of the night was supposed to be a beer tasting at the local civic center, but we could not imagine keeping the sitter around while the snow accumulated. We went into baton passing mode, after dinner, I relieved the sitter and C went to the event. She is going to pass the baton later and I will hang out with the neighbors and she will come home to be here for the kid.
Things happen and we understand but the snow took away a lot from the night. Our friends from Wisconsin, that we have not seen in a while, had to pull the chute because of the weather. Things happen.
Tomorrow will be full of shoveling. I am so ready for Spring.

Change is a good thing
Whoa!
What the hell is this? It has been almost two months since a post and now what is this place and why does everything look so different?
Let’s see, the last 8 weeks has been absolutely crazy and it is now time to grow up from the training wheels of blogger and graduate to something a little more robust. Things are still going to change a little bit as I get my HTML skills back in alignment and figure out what I can do with more control over the site.
I am sure you have questions
You: What’s up with the new site?
First off, I hate naming things and I tried to be creative with the web site name and presentation and so forth, so I hope it works for you.
You: What’s up with the site name?
Second, there is a reason for the name of the web site. As you know we have an adopted Chinese girl, you may also know that Happy Family is a common Chinese dish of pieces thrown together to make something great, but what most of you probably do not know is that there is a significance behind the number. Yes, that is right child number 2 is currently being put together by envelopes and documentation criss-crossing the country. A lot of paperwork goes into adopting a girl from child and that is why we are in the middle of about a 2-year gestation period while we assemble our documents.
You: So really, where the hell have your been since your last post of the freakish Elmo doll around Xmas?
Well, those answers are worthy of a bullet-pointed list that will have the information filled in at a later time:
• New Year’s in Phoenix
• Visit to St. Louis
• Maya Update
• Certified PMP
• Snow and cold
• Chinese New Year
• Courtney and the cops/Elmo, Maya and toilet training/Prozac dog/Tax roulette/Showering at the gym/library music and all the other weirdness that keeps you coming back and shaking your head
You: Why should I check any longer? You’ve burned me before by disappearing for days at a time, no phone call, no message, not even money on the night stand for a cab.
Well, I truly am sorry. It really was all me and had nothing to do with you. You kept growing and changing and I never did. The truth is, I can’t quit you. (Insert your own stemming the rose joke here)
In all honesty the Maya blog was not my first tryst with voyeurism that is blogging. I have had a site about running, a sort of third-person blog and even a password protected site where I would vent and complain about all of you because I truly am petty and vindictive underneath my boyish good looks.
So I have come to the conclusion that it was all too much and I needed one central place to maintain things. So here you are going to get everything; the Maya updates, the snark, the running updates and all other forms of raw unedited, pure-cut, primo Columbian mind-blow that I can kick out.
It won’t be pretty, the grammar will be horrible and the content will be lacking at times.
You: Columbian mind blow?
Sorry, I have not worked out the creative muscles in a while so please bear with me. I am not saying that this site will be updated more frequently, but I am going to try and change and these posts, these little acts do help me feel better and I hope they give you all some enjoyment as well.
So please check back and get to know us again and I will fill you in on everything that is going on in this Happy Family
You: Isn’t that kind of cheesy to end the post that way?
Yes.
